Casting is a weird one…definitely the most intimate experience with someone you don’t know from moment one: actors come in by the hordes, having prepared (or not) from an excerpt of the script. They strip themselves naked in hope of ‘getting the part right,’ allowing the director to puppet them however he / she wants and then 10 – 15 minutes later exit room knowing that the odds that they won’t get the part is more than likely and that you (the director) will never cross paths with them again. I never thought about this until now…it’s similar to a one-night-stand…but I wouldn’t know anything about that.
